A RES OLUTI ON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO PALOS VERD ES, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF CULVER
CITY, INGELWOOD, SANTA MONICA, EL SEGUNDO,
HAWTHORNE, MANHATTAN BEACH, LAWNDALE, GARDENA,
HERMOSA BEACH, REDONDO BEACH, TORRANCE, PALOS
VERDES ESTATES, ROLLING HILLS ES TATES, L OMI TA,
LOS ANGELES, ROLLING HILLS, RANCHO PALOS VERDES,
AND LENNOX UNINCORPORATED AREA.
WHEREAS , the City of Rancho Palos Verdes , Cali-
fornia desires to participate in a certain project des-
ignated South Bay Regional Burglary Team, to be funded in
part from funds made available through the Omnibus Crime
Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 , PL90-355 , as amended,
PL91-644, (hereafter referred to as the Safe Streets Act)
administered by the California Office of Criminal Justice
Planning; and
WHEREAS , the California Office of Criminal Justice
Planning has been organized to administer the funds appropri-
ated by Congress and allocated for use in California under
the provisions of the law; and
WHEREAS , the Southern California Association of
Governments has been designated as the Regional Advisory
Board for Region R including the Los Angeles Metropolitan
Area; and
WHEREAS , the Los Angeles Regional Criminal Justice
Planning Board has been organized and has published a
Regional Criminal Justice Master Plan for Region R; and
WHEREAS , the City of Redondo Beach, on behalf of
the cities of Culver City, Inglewood, Santa Monica, El
Segundo, Hawthorne, Manhattan Beach, Lawndale, Gardena ,
Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes Estates ,
Rolling Hills Estates , Lomita, Los Angeles , Rolling Hills ,
Rancho Palos Verdes , and Lennox unincorporated area , sub-
mitted an application for a grant of six hundred and ninety-
four thousand, four hundred and forty-four dollars ($694,444)
to fund a Crime Specific - Burglary Program entitled South
Bay Regional Burglary Team; and
WHEREAS , the sum of four hundred and thirty-
one dollars and sixty-six cents ($431. 66) has been assessed
of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes for the hard-cash match-
ing funds requirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY C OUNC IL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS :
Section 1. That the City Council agrees to
participate in the proposed South Bay Regional Burglary
Team to accept its share of the grant , and to provide the
City's share of hard-cash matching funds which has been
determined to be a sum equal to four hundred and thirty-
one dollars and sixty-six cents ($431.66) .
Section 2. That the City Manager is herewith
designated as the City's representative in the conduct of
the South Bay Regional Burglary Team, and is authorized to
furnish information, execute documents , make expenditures
and perform associated administrative functions within the
scope of authority granted by this Resolution. The City
Manager may designate other employees as necessary to
assist him in these duties .
Section 3. That the grant funds received here-
under shall not be used to supplant on-going law enforce-
ment expenditures .
Section 4. That in the conduct of this Project ,
the City will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act
of 1964.
