CC RES 1976-049 RESOLUTION NO. 76- 49 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES , CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE SOUTH BAY CHIEFS OF POLICE WHEREAS, the City of Rancho Palos Verdes , California, desires to participate in a certain project designated South Bay Regional Burglary Team, to be funded in part from funds made available through the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 , PL90-355 , as amended, PL91-644 (hereafter referred to as the Safe Streets Act) , administered by the California Office of Criminal Justice Planning; and WHEREAS, the California Office of Criminal Justice Planning has been organized to administer the funds appropriated by Congress and allocated for use in California under the provi- sions of the law; and WHEREAS, the Southern California Association of Govern- ments has been designated as the Regional Advisory Board for Region R including the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area; and WHEREAS, the Los Angeles Regional Criminal Justice Planning Board has been organized and has published a Regional Criminal Justice Master Plan for Region R; and WHEREAS , the City of Redondo Beach, on behalf of the cities of Culver City, El Segundo, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates , Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills Estates , Santa Monica, Torrance, Lennox Station Area, Rolling Hills and Rancho Palos Verdes submitted an application for a grant of six hundred and ninety-three thousand, three hundred and thirty-three dollars ($693 ,333) to fund a Crime Specific - Burglary Program entitled South Bay Regional Burglary Team; and WHEREAS , the sum of eight hundred and ninety-four dollars and forty cents ($894 .40) has been assessed of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes for the hard-cash matching funds require- ment. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS : Section 1 : That the City Council agrees to partici- pate in the proposed South Bay Regional Burglary Team, to ac- cept its share of the grant, and to provide the City' s share of hard-cash matching funds which has been determined to be a sum equal to eight hundred and ninety-four dollars and forty cents ($894. 40) . Section 2 : That the City Manager is herewith desig- nated as the City' s representative in the conduct of the South Bay Regional Burglary Team and is authorized to furnish infor- mation, execute documents , make expenditures and perform as- sociated administrative functions within the scope of authority granted by this resolution. The City Manager may designate other employees as necessary to assist him in these duties. Section 3 : That the grant funds received hereunder shall not be used to supplant on-going law enforcement expen- ditures. Section 4 : That in the conduct of this Project, the City will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 .
