RESOLUTION NO. 77-20
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
SETTING THE TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEAR-
ING TO DETERMINE WHETHER PUBLIC NECESSITY,
HEALTH, SAFETY, OR WELFARE, REQUIRES THE FORMA-
TION OF AN UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT IN THE
AREA ALONG AND ADJACENT HAWTHORNE BOULEVARD
AND CERTAIN POLE LINE EASEMENTS.
Qom- WHEREAS. Ordinance No. 38 establishes a procedure for the :creation
of underground utility districts and requires as an initial step in such procedure
the holding of a public hearing to ascertain whether public necessity, health,
safety, or welfare require the removal of poles, overhead wires and associated over-
head structures and the underground installation of wires and fac il i ties for supply-
ing electric, communication, or similar or associated service in any such district;
and
WHEREAS, it has been recommended that such an underground utility
district, hereinafter called District, be formed in the area along and adjacent to
Hawthorne Boulevard and certain Pole line easements.
WHEREAS, the Franchise Committee of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes
met and determined on December 21, 1976, that the area along Hawthorne Boulevard
between Palos Verdes Drive West and a point approximately 2400 feet east of Palos
Verdes Drive West deserves the highest priority in the usage of allocated underground
utility funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 . NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be
held by the Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes on April 19, 1977 at the
hour of 7:30 p.m. at the Palos Verdes Unified School District Building, 30942 Haw-
thorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, California to ascertain whether the public
necessity, health, safety or welfare requires the underground installation of wires
and facilities for supplying electric, communication or similar or associated ser-
vice and the removal of existing overhead electric and communication facilities with-
in the area designated herein.
SECTION 2. At such hearing all persons interested shall be given
an opportunity to be heard. Said hearing may be continued from time to time as may
be determined by the City Council .
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall notify all affected property
owners as shown on the last equalized assessment roll and utilities concerned by
mail of the time and place of such hearing at least ten (10) days prior to the date

SECTION 4. The area proposed to be included in the District is
shown upon that certain map entitled Hawthorne Boulevard Underground Utility Dis-
trict, which is on file in the office of the Clerk of the City of Rancho Palos
Verdes.
