CC MINS 19741029 ADJ M I N U T E S RANCHO PALOS VE RDE S CITY COUNC I L Adjourned Regular Meeting October 29, 1974 The meeting was called to order at 7:42 p.m. at the City Offices, 31244 Palos Verdes Drive West, notice having been given with affidavit thereto on file. PRESENT: Councilman Ken Dyda, Francis D. Ruth, Robert E. Ryan, and Mayor Marilyn Ryan II/ ABSENT: Councilman Gunther Buerk Also present were City Manager Leonard G. Wood, Planning Director Sharon Hightower, and Mr. Ed Hyland of Stone & Youngberg. FINAL MAP On motion of Councilman Dyda, seconded TRACT NO. 31871 (Treacy) by Councilman Ryan, and unanimously car- (1412 ) ried the Council accepted the City Engineer's recommendation and approved Final Map Tract No. 31871; accepted the right to prohibit the construction of ad- ditional residential buildings, as offered for dedication on said map; made a finding as follows: (a) the City Council, pursuant to Section 11587(a) of the Subdivision Map Act hereby finds the development of the property in the manner set forth on the subject tract will not unreasonably interfere with the free and complete exercise of the easement held by Southern California Edison Company, and accepts the map without the signature of said easement holder; (b) the City Council, pursuant to Section 25367 of the Government Code, found that the following described easement is no longer required as open area and abandons the same: the right to prohibit the erection of buildings or other structure over Lot 14, Tract No. 28750, M.B. 721-45-46, which falls within the permitted residential building area shown on Tract No. 31871. SURPLUS SCHOOL SITES The City Council met in study session to discuss surplus school sites. The first presentation was by the City's subcom- mittee on parks represented by Bob Gruhn and Larry Zamos. The school district representative, Jim Crockett, then presented the school district's point of view regarding the surplus school sites. This was followed by a presentation from Ed Hyland of the firm of Stone & Youngberg and he discussed various financing methods to acquire the sites. Councilman Buerk arrived at 9:35 p.m. and was present for the remainder of the meeting. It was moved by Councilman Dyda, seconded by Councilman Ryan, and unanimously carried, that the City inform the school district that the Crestmont and Highland School sites are the City's two top priorities for which the City will look at acquisition. ADJOURNMENT At 11:00 p.m. , on the motion of Councilman Ryan, seconded by Councilman Buerk, the meeting was adjourned to Saturday, November 2, 8:00 a.m. , at the City Offices to discuss personnel matters in executive session. _ Mayor LEONARD G.
