REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING
RANCHO PALOS VERDES CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 8, 1979
The meeting was called to order at 7:40 P.M. by Mayor Ken Dyda at the Palos Verdes
Unified School District Building, 30942 Hawthorne Boulevard. Following the Pledge
of Allegiance to the flag, roll call was answered as follows:
11/ PRESENT: RYAN, SHAW, HEIN & MAYOR DYDA
LATE ARRIVAL: BUERK @ 7:45 P.M.
Also present were City Attorney Patrick Coughlan, Director of Public Works Dennis
Pikus and City Manager Leonard G. Wood.
Mayor Dyda outlined the process to be followed for this work session on the Draft
Final Geotechnical Investigation of Abalone Cove Landslide Report.
Geologist Dr. Perry Ehlig, representing Robert Stone & Associates, briefed those
present on the research done in preparing this report.
RECESS: At 9:25 P.M. Mayor Dyda declared a brief recess.
At 9:35 P.M. the meeting reconvened with the
same members present.
RESOLUTION NO. 79-24 Councilman Ryan moved, seconded by Councilman
PROCLAIMING THE EXISTENCE OF Buerk, and unanimously carried, to authorize
A LOCAL EMERGENCY (4 01x18 01) staff to enter into negotiations for preliminary
engineering and a well location study.
RESOL. NO. 79-24 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES PROCLAIMING
THE EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY was read by title. Councilman Ryan moved, seconded
by Councilman Buerk, to ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 79-24. The motion carried on the follow-
in roll call vote:
AYES: RYAN, BUERK, SHAW, HEIN & MAYOR DYDA
NOES: NONE
Councilman Ryan requested that his report on a disaster emergency fund be considered
at the Council Work Session on March 14.
Councilwoman Shaw suggested that the City support SB481. Councilman Ryan so moved,
seconded by Councilwoman Hein, and unanimously carried.
ADJOURNMENT: At 10:10 P.M. Councilman Ryan moved, seconded by
Councilman Buerk:and unanimously carried, to
adjourn to Tuesday, March 13 for a joint meeting with the Parks & Recreation Committee.
