CC MINS 19790124 M I N U T E S RANCHO PALOS VERDES CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 24, 1979 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Ken Dyda in the Palos Verdes Unified School District Building, 30942 Hawthorne Boulevard, with proper notice having been given and affidavit thereto on file. Roll call was answered as follows: PRESENT: RYAN, BUERK, SHAW, HEIN AND MAYOR DYDA ABSENT: NONE Also present were City Manager Leonard Wood, Director of Planning Sharon Hightower, Associate Civil Engineer Joe Aroyo, Director of Parks & Recreation Maynard Law, Community Services Officer Tom Bandy and Administrative Services Officer George Wunderlin. After brief introductory remarks by Mayor Dyda and each of the members of Council the following residents spoke. Pete Herron, 32368 Phantom Drive, discussed the lack of recreation on the south side of the City, programming for TM cablevision, and the increase in trash collection rates. Ed Piper, 28022 Ridgebrook Court, representing the Ridgegate Homeowners Association, discussed the possibility of closing Ridgegate Drive, plans for the widening of Highridge, and traffic control. Mrs. Ivar Gustafson, 3282 Paseo Del Mar, inquired about the construction on Palos Verdes Drive West at the Palos Verdes Estates City limits. Mrs. Dodi Burkhardt, 30423 Via Cambron, spoke regarding the project along Palos Verdes Drive West, road signs, and bicycle paths. City Council indicated that the City would repost the Vanderlip sign. Mrs. Kathy Hubbard, 6519 Via Colinita, spoke about problems in the Miraleste area including the proposed tree ordinance, traffic problems along Palos Verdes Drive East, and and annexation of the Western Avenue area. Mr. Ray Seager, 30200 Oceanaire Drive, representing the Del Cerro Homeowners Association, spoke about the development of the proposed Del Cerro Park as well as the Urban West Development. Council requested a staff report and recommendation on pedestrian access in the Urban West Development. Mr. Thomas Thorsen, 5909 Waukesha, talked about the height variance and tree trimming ordinance. RECESS TO EXECUTIVE SESSION At 10:10 P.M. Councilman Ryan moved, seconded by Councilwoman Hein and unanimously carried to recess to executive session. At 11:05 P.M. the meeting reconvened with no action having been taken. ADJOURNMENT At 11:07 P.M. Councilman Ryan moved, seconded by Councilwoman Hein and unanimously carried, to adjourn the meeting to January 30, 1979 for a work session on the Antenna Ordinance.
