CC MINS 19800625 ADJ M I N U T E S RANCHO PALOS VERDES CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING JUNE 25, 1980 The meeting was called to order at 7:42 P.M. by Mayor Barbara Hein at the Palos Verdes Unified School District Building, 30942 Hawthorne Boulevard, notice having been given with affidavit thereto on file. Roll Call was answered as follows: - PRESENT: SHAW, BACHARACH, DYDA & MAYOR HEIN ABSENT: RYAN Also present were Acting City Manager Sharon W. Hightower, and Director of Parks & Recreation Maynard Law. PERSONNEL PROJECTIONS FOR After discussion of the projections PUBLIC WORKS DEPT. (302 x 1202) indicated in the Prima Space Require- ments Report, it was the consensus of Council to approve these requirements. CIVIC CENTER PLANNING Council then discussed issues relative to its planning as follows: A. SITE 1. Full service versus contract site planning - No Action. 2. Fire Station Access - It was the consensus of Council not to plan for a fire station. B. SPECIALIZED SPACE ALLOCATION 1. Conference Rooms - Already approved. The question arose whether the large conference room should have extra space for the public. This can possibly be accomplished through the use of flexible furniture. 2. Offices - Already approved. 3. Public Counters - This area should have a mix of seating and stand- ing space (depending on function) . Prima will study this area more. 4. Secure Storage - No vault. Council discussed making provisions for microfilm, microfiche or electronic information storage facilities. Prima will check on file storage needs for the Public Works and Parks & Recreation departments. 5. Copy/Work Rooms - Plans for Administrative Services and Environmental Services are adequate. Parks & Recreation - Prima will down-size to staff use only and location. C. SPACE ALLOCATION BY DEPARTMENT 1. Council Office - Plans should allow for two council offices with informal area between. 2. City Manager - Prima plans call for 300 sq. ft. 3. Administrative Services - Consensus to approve. 4. Community Services - Consensus to approve. 5. Environmental Services - Consensus to approve. C. Space allocation by department (contd.) 6. Parks & Recreation Department - The counter space in this Department should be similar to other counter areas throughout the Center. 7. Public Works Department - Plan to have a small desk for the maintenance man. 8. General - Provisions should be made to allow for visual screening behind the counter areas. 9. Share Use Area - The lunch room should be open to the outside, but no public use should be allowed. D. PLANNING YEAR Councilman Dyda moved, seconded by Councilwoman Shaw to include City Hall, Council Chambers and Public Safety in design to buildout. The motion carried unanimously. ADJOURNMENT At 12:05 A.M. on motion of Council- woman Shaw, seconded by Councilwoman Bacharach and carried, Council adjourn- ed to executive session for discussion of pending litigation on Tuesday, July 1, 1980 at 7:00 P.M. allow MAYOR SHARON W.
