CC MINS 19820424 ADJ MINUTES RANCHO PALOS VERDES CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING APRIL 24, 1982 The meeting was called to order at 9:30 A.M. by Mayor Jacki Bacharach at the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Building, notice having been given with affidavit thereto on file. II/ PRESENT: HEIN, RYAN, SHAW, DYDA, & MAYOR BACHARACH Also present were City Attorney Patrick Coughlan, Assistant City Attorney Steve Dorsey, Planning Director Sharon Hightower, Associate Planner Ann Negendank, City Manager Donald Guluzzy, and Acting City Clerk Marilyn Smith. Representing Ray Construction was James W. Ray and Robert Smith. Also present was the owner of Golden Cove- Shopping Center Howard Adler, So. Bay Housing Consortium representative Don Page, and AiResearch representative Ken Parker. GOLDEN COVE DEVELOPMENT Mr. Adler passed out a prospectus detailing the advantages and dis- advantages of affordable housing in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. Merchants in Golden Cove are interested in upgrading the Center. Mr. Ray said that this project represented a sig- nificant effort on his company's part to address the concerns of affordable housing. His company is working in conjunction with the South Bay Housing Consortium and the Golden Cove Center to remedy this situation. Council discussion followed regarding the density of the project, how long this plan would take to come to fruition, pricing for this rousing, the average family size for these units, and future meetings that would be necessary to discuss this matter with the Planning Commission and Traffic Committee.
