CC MINS 19820324 ADJ MINUTES RANCHO PALOS VERDES CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MARCH 24, 1982 The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M. by Mayor Jacki Bacharach at the Ridgecrest Intermediate School, 28915 Northbay, notice having been given with affidavit thereto on file. PRESENT: REIN, RYAN, SHAW, DYDA & MAYOR BACHARACH ABSENT: NONE Also present were City Manager Donald Guluzzy, Director of Planning Sharon W. Hightower, Director of Community Services Tom Bandy, Director of Parks & Recreation Maynard Law, Director of Public Works Carl Abel, Administrative Assistant Julie Christensen, Director of Administrative Services Kiti Laisure, Public Works Secretary Ann Ellerman, City Manager's Secretary Betty Uht, Parks & Recreation Leader Becky Martin, and City Clerk Mary Jo Lofthus. Captain Dennis Emerson of the Lomita's Sheriff's Station, Batallion Commander Hunt and Captain Larson from the L. A. County Fire Department were also present. Mayor Bacharach welcomed all present and then the Council proceeded to answer questions presented by the following residents: Street Sweeping - Samuel J. Cunningham, 28857 Blythewood, inquired about the reduction in street sweeping and requested clarification of establishing priorities. Excess of Cars Parked in the Street - John D. Andrews, 28603 Plainfield Road, questioned the conversion of garages by some of his neighbors which resulted in an excessive numbers of cars parked on his street. Weed Control - Mrs. Barton, 2403 Sparta Drive, requested that people be notified to remove tumble weeds and other plantings that block the sidewalk. Removal of Neighborhood Trees - Norman Niederman, 27053 Indian Peak Road, questioned the necessity of cutting down the stone pine trees in his neighborhood. He requested that the homeowners be advised when the City plans such removal. Impairment of View by Neighborhood Trees -Robert McAuliffe, 6403 Rio Linda Drive, inquired about whether anything could be done to save his view that was being blocked by his neighbor's trees. Recycle Center - Toni Lubo.fsky, 28925 Golden Meadow Drive, inquired about the development of a recycle program in the City. Possible Loitering - A resident of Sparta drive asked who she should notify when people park on her street late at night. Time Limit on Building Permits - Len Hendricks, 27915 Longhill Drive, asked how long a building permit was good for. Development of Vanderlip Park - Ken Fisher, 5727 Capeswood Drive, inquired about the schedule for development of this park and expressed concern about the illegal dumping that takes place. Traffic Control - Donald Bebel, 8 Barkentine Road, inquired about what could be done to stop speeding cars coming off Palos Verdes Drive South on to his street. Senior Citizens - Jean Dickinson, 6744 Los Verdes Drive, complimented the City for the Recreation Guide and in particular for the Senior Citizens section of that publication. Levitt Project - Edward Hallett, Longhill Drive, expressed his concern about the density of this proposed project. Speed Enforcement by the Sheriff's Department - Emmett Ingram, 28806 Beechgate, inquired about the Sheriff's method of ticketing speeding cars. ADJOURNMENT At 9:15 P.M. Council adjourned to March 30 for a meeting with committee and commission members.
