ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING/COMMUNITY LEADER BREAKFAST
NOVEMBER 5, 1988
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 A.M. by Mayor Robert
E. Ryan at Hesse Park Community Center, 29301 Hawthorne Blvd.
Notice having been given with affidavit thereto on file.
PRESENT. BACHARACH, McTAGGART, HINCHLIFFE, HUGHES AND
MAYOR RYAN
After opening remarks by the Mayor a video presentation was
made which described the gabion project now taking place
along the coastline.
The next item of discussion was a brief update on the
recycling program. The Mayor then gave a brief overview of
the recently adopted tree trimming policy for City trees.
Mayor Pro Tem Bacharach reported on the most recent meeting
with the Regional Sheriff Committee and reported on the
upcoming use of volunteer motorcycle police that would soon
be used in the City.
Councilman Hughes gave an update on the state of emergency
medical services and the crisis occurring in that service
because of lack of funding. He then went on to explain the
effects of the gabion project now being installed along the
coastline.
The meeting was then opened up for questions from the
audience: an inquiry was made about the revenue available
from the recycling program to non-profit groups- r if the City
is getting credit for the scrap value of the recycables; if
the Sheriff's Department is aware of any gang activity in the
Eastview area- and the schedule for completion of the
commercial development along Western Avenue.
RECESS TO CLOSE SESSION At 9:30 A.M. the meeting recessed
AND RECONVENE to a closed session on motion of
Councilman McTaggart and carried,
said meeting being held to
discuss pending litigation resulting from the City's
consideration to proceed with the formation of the Daladier
Undergrounding District. At 10:30 A.M. the meeting
reconvened on motion of Councilwoman Bacharach.
