He provided input as to the previous deregul n cable tv rates. LOBBYING ACTIVITIES UPDATE Mayor Pro Tem McTaggart -� supplied updated information concerning recent landslide mitigation lobbying efforts. DEVELOPMENT ISSUES Councilman Hinchliffe reported on the status of potential major developments in the City. Mayor Huhes provided an over- RECYCLING AB 939 view of a 4M AB P 939, requiring recycling and waste reduction plans throughout the State* Supplying further informat ion regarding AB 939, Councilman Ryan recycling efforts. Additional City recycling summarized City of were briefly noted by Councilwoman Bacharachs 1 DISASTER PREPAREDNESS The subject of disaster preparedness was addressed by Councilwoman Bacharach. She noted Dimension Cable's assistance in disseminating pertinent information via cable tv, Mrs. Bacharach then mentioned a nei.,; City park v,hich is under con- struction, as �14-rell as another Which is being renovated. HAWTHORNE UNDERGROUNDING Director of Public Works Nentz supplied background information concerning utility unde rg, rounding in progress on HaT.,T,thorne Boulevard. He reported on the status of this project. UPCOMING EVENTS Referring to information distributed at the meetings 1 Mayor Hughes called attention to upcoming City events. He thanked Mr. Earl Weinstein for his continued efforts in providing public service messages on cable tv. MISCELLANEOUS QUESTIONS The meeting was opened up for DISCUSSIONS questions from the audience. Inquiries were made with regard to the following. The Del Cerro utility undergrounding project, The upcoming Disaster Preparedness meeting, The Coastal Specific Plan/construction in the coastal zone; The status of negotiations concerning Long Point and the City's viewpoint with regard to the cu,.--rent proposal for that property; The status of the proposal for Subregion 1-, The VMS Corporation*, and rock crusher on -the north side The grading project of Palos Verdes Drive South; "11.he status of converting Via Colinita to a one-way street; The status of the �7*ew .initiative of Prop M and the related issue of primary viewing areas; and the completion of the T t The projected target date for X., Fire Station 83 replacement facility. 2 Planning Commissioner Von Hagen invited residents to an upcoming Planning Commission public hearing on the Housing Element. This being Fire Service Day, Los Angeles County Fire Department Representative Corbett invited residents to tour Fire Department facilities. Councilwoman Bacharach regrettably announced that Pam Weaver has resigned her position as Public Information Officer/Assistant to the City Manager* ADJOURNMENT At 10*"15 AM the meeting w-as duly adjourned to a budget work session in the City Hall Community Room.
