A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING TO DETERMINE WHETHER
PUBLIC NECESSITY, HEALTH, SAFETY, OR WELFARE
REQUIRES THE FORMATION OF AN UNDERGROUND
UTILITY DISTRICT ON HAWTHORNE BOULEVARD
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes as
follows:
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 38 establishes a procedure for the creation of
underground utility districts and requires as the initial step in such pro-
cedure the holding of a public hearing to ascertain whether public necessi-
ty, health, safety, or welfare requires the removal of poles, overhead
wires and associated overhead structures and the underground installation
of wires and facilities for supplying electric, communication, or similar
or associated service in any such district; and
WHEREAS, it has been recommended that such an underground utility dis-
trict, hereinafter called District, be formed within the following
described land:
One hundred feet (100') westerly and fifty feet (50') Easterly of the
centerline of Hawthorne Boulevard from eighty -six feet (86') southerly of
the centerline of Indian Valley to ninety feet (90') southwesterly of the
centerline of Granvia Altamira; thence one hundred fifty feet (150')
northerly and fifty feet (50') southerly of the centerline of Hawthorne
Boulevard from last mentioned point to forty feet (40') northeasterly of
the centerline of Granvia Altamira; thence within the northerly and
southerly limits of the Hawthorne Boulevard rights of way from last men-
tioned point to two hundred seventy feet (270') easterly of the centerline
of Ravenspur Road,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a public hearing will be held by
the Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes on September 16, 1986, at
the hour of 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers for the City of Rancho Palos
Verdes, California, to ascertain whether the public necessity, health,
safety, or welfare requires the removal of poles, overhead wires and asso-
ciated overhead structures and the underground installation of wires and
facilities for supplying electric, communication, or similar associated
service in the District hereinabove described.
2. At such hearing all persons interested shall be given an oppor-
tunity to be heard. Said hearing may be continued from time to time as may
be determined by the City Council,
3. The City Clerk shall notify all affected property owners as shown
on the last equalized assessment roll and utilities concerned of the time
and place of such hearing by mailing a copy of this resolution to such
property owners and utilities concerned at least ten (10) days prior to the
date thereof,

4. The area proposed to be included in the District is shown upon that
certain map entitled Hawthorne Undergrounding Project, dated August 5,
1986, attached hereto and on file in the office of the City Clerk of the
City of Rancho Palos Verdes.
