ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
COMMUNITY LEADERS' BREAKFAST
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 9:30 A.M. by Mayor John McTaggart at the Ocean
Trails Golf Course Clubhouse, 1 Ocean Trails Drive, notice having been given with
affidavit thereto on file.
Present: Clark, Ferraro, Stern, Gardiner and Mayor John McTaggart
Also present were City Manager Les Evans, Assistant City Manager Carolynn Petru,
Administrative Services Director /City Clerk Jo Purcell, Recreation & Parks Director Ron
Rosenfeld, Public Works Director Dean Allison, Finance Director Dennis McLean and
Director of Planning, Building & Code Enforcement Joel Rojas.
After the Flag salute, Mayor John McTaggart then introduced several of the guests
present, including Mr. Donald Trump, the new owner of the Ocean Trails Golf Course.
Each of the councilmembers then made brief opening remarks and welcomed Mr.
Trump to the City.
Mr. Trump summarized his plans for the Ocean Trails Golf Course, emphasizing his
experience in building quality courses and the fact that the Rancho Palos Verdes
coastline had the potential to be a world class golf course. His current plans called for
closing the course in January 2003 to make some changes; a grand opening is planned
for June, 2003.
Mr. Trump's remarks were followed by a short question and answer period regarding
the continued access of the public trails, protection of the habitat and vegetation, the
traffic impact of the project, and the relationship of the golf course to the just approved
Long Point Resort Hotel.
