RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL-OF THE CITY
OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES APPROVING A REVISION
OF GRADING APPLICATION N06 1010*
WHEREAS, the property owner, Arik Abdalian,,requested a
Grading application to allow a four foot downslope retaining
wall in the rear yard in an extreme (100%) slope at 30825
Marne Drive;
WHEREAS, after notice pursuant to the City's Development
Code, a hearing was held on June 23, 1987 at which time all
interested parties were given an opportunity to be heard and
present evidence.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Rancho
Palos Verdes approved Grading Application No. 1010 on June.
23, 1987 subject to conditions which are necessary to protect
the public health, safety, and general welfare of the area.
WHEREAS, Arik Abdalian requested a revision to the
conditions of approval of Grading Application No. 1010 to
allow a series of additional garden walls on the rear yard
slope at 30825 Marne Drive.
WHEREAS, on January 9-, 1990; the Planning Commission of
the City of Rancho Palos Verdes denied the property owner's
request to revise-the conditions of approval of- Grading
Application No. 1010,
WHEREAS, the property owners appealed the Planning
Commission's decision to the City Council of the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes and a hearing was held on February 6,
1990, at which time all interested parties were given an
opportunity to be heard and present evidence.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, AND RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1.* That the proposed garden walls and
previously approved retaining wall are not contrary to the
intent of Grading Section 17.50.070 of the city's Development
Code since the walls do not cause any negative impact on the
public health, safety, and general welfare.
Section 2: That the granting of the Grading application
will not be contrary to the objectives of the General Plan,
since it is constructed of a material which matches the
existing architecture and will be screened by landscaping.
Section 3: For the foregoing reasons, the City Council
of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby approves a revision
to Grading Application No. 1010, and replaces the conditions
of the original approval with the amended conditions shown on
Exhibit "A" which are necessary to protect the public health,
safety, and general welfare of the area*

i's The retaining wall originally approved on June 23, 1987
may not exceed a maximum of 3 feet in height and must be
stuccoed to match the existing residence.
2* The proposed garden walls must retain less than 3 feet
of earth and must be stuccoed to match the existing
residence.
3. A landscape and fencing plan which utilizes drought
tolerant
vegetation and a water efficient irrigation system and a
landscape covenant must be submitted to the Director of
Environmental Services within 30 days of this approval,
4* The proposed landscaping should screen the view of the
existing retaining wall and pool deck as well as the
proposed garden walls.
59 No additional retaining or garden walls on the rear yard
slope are allowed,
