CC RES 1991-006RESOLUTION NO-i-91-6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES SUPPORTING THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES ENGAGED IN OPERATION DESERT STORM WHEREAS, the United States has joined with an international coalition and is engaged in military action to repel Iraqi aggression against its neighbors* and WHEREAS, a half a million men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces are now involved in the armed conflict to drive Iraq from Kuwait and to protect other countries in the region from further attack; and WHEREAS, over 150,,000 members of the Reserve and National Guard have been called to active duty and may become 'involved in armed conflict; and WHEREAS, the City Council and the residents of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes have expressed pride in the men and women of the United States Armed Forces engaged in Operation Desert Storm, who are carrying out their missions with professional excellence, dedicated patriotism, and exemplary bravery; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes unequivocally supports the members of the Armed Forces and their families during this time of crisis and hardship; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Rancho Palos Verdes supports President George Bush as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, and the international community in all their efforts to protect the people of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Israel and to bring about a swift end to the conflict and the safe return of our Armed Forces engaged in Operation Desert Storm.
