A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES AUTHORIZING THE CITY
OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES TO ACCEPT THE
CONVEYANCE OF PALOS VERDES SHORELINE PARK
SITE FROM THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES THE
WHEREAS, Palos Verdes Shoreline Park, located in Rancho Palos Verdes
between Palos Verdes Drive South and the Pacific Ocean at the San Pedro border, is a
County of Los Angeles park site that has remained undeveloped;
WHEREAS, due to its large size and ideal location, the Palos Verdes Shoreline
Park has the potential to be an exceptional park site which could be enhanced as open
space and /or recreational use;
WHEREAS, consistent with the City's adopted Master Park Plan, it has long
been an interest of the City to acquire the Palos Verdes Shoreline Park;
WHEREAS, at its June 3, 1997 meeting, the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council
adopted Resolution 97 -51 indicating the City's interest to the County in acquiring the
Shoreline Park site for the purpose of preserving open space and /or expanding
recreational uses for the community; and
WHEREAS, at their October 7, 1997 meeting, the Board of Supervisors for the
County of Los Angeles made a finding that Shoreline Park site is not required for
County use and approved the conveyance of the property to the City subject to certain
conditions.
BE IT, THEREFORE, RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RANCHO PALOS VERDES:
That the City of Rancho Palos Verdes accepts the conveyance, by Quitclaim Deed,
executed by the County of Los Angeles of Palos Verdes Shoreline property, certain real
property located in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, County of Los Angeles, state of
California, consisting of two portions of Lot 98 of the L.A.C.A. No. 51 as shown on a
map recorded in Book 1, Page 1 of the Assessor's Maps in the Office of the County
Recorder of Los Angeles County, California, and more fully described on Exhibit "A"
hereto and incorporated herein by this reference.

ANGELES, a body corporate and politic, does hereby surrender, quitclaim and release to:
CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES, a municipal corporation
all of the COUNTY'S right, title and interest in and to the described real property excepting all oil, gas,
hydrocarbons in and under the property without the right to the use of the surface or subsurface to a
depth of 500 feet, measured vertically from the surface of said real property.

California and is described in the attached "Exhibit A" consisting of three pages and incorporated by
reference herein as set forth in full.

CONVEYANCE TO THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
PARCEL "A"
That certain parcel of land situated in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, County of Los
Angeles, State of California, being that portion of Lot 98 of L.A.C.A. No. 51 as shown on
a map recorded in Book 1, Page 1 of Assessor's Maps in the Office of the County
Recorder of said Los Angeles County, described as follows:
COMMENCING at the northeasterly corner of said Lot 98; thence along the
southeasterly line of said lot South 260 44' 33" West 10.70 feet to a line parallel with and
10.00 feet southerly, measured at right angles from the northerly line of said lot; thence

1. The property shall be restricted to the uses as provided herein. Said
property shall be used for natural vegetation. and wildlife habitat conservation, protection,
and preservation, and *for maintenance of open space and view preservation. Said use

shall include, but not be limited to, revegetation, restoration, enhancement, and fencing
of the property, and the construction of connector trails.
2. The express condition that at all times and under all circumstances
said real property shall be equally open to residents of incorporated and unincorporated
territory of Los Angeles County, and that there shall not be discrimination against or
preference, gratuity, bonus or other benefit given to residents of incorporated areas not
equally accorded to residents of unincorporated territory of Los Angeles County.
3. The express condition that the GITY accepts s a:u real property I its
"as is" condition, and that any modifications and use of the property by the CITY will be for
the purposes stated under condition 1 and 2 above, and that if and when said CITY fails,
refuses or neglects to maintain and use said property for said purposes, or substitutes,
exchanges or conveys said property, title to said property shall immediately revert to the
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES without further notice and without the necessity of any
affirmative action on the part of said COUNTY to assert any rights in said real property,
provided, however, that the CITY shall have the right to convey an easement(s), without
compensation to others in furtherance with and consistent with condition 1 and 2 above.
4. The parties may, by mutual agreement, modify the legal descriptions
of Parcel "A" and/or Parcel "B" in furtherance of the purposes for which this conveyance
was made.
PARCEL 61.B»
That portion of Parcel 98, as shown on Los Angeles County Assessor's Map No. 51,
in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, County of Los Angeles, State of California, filed in
Book 1, Page 1, of Assessor's Maps, in the office of the Registrar - Recorder of said County,
which lies within that certain parcel of land described in deed to County of Los Angeles,
recorded as Document No. 1592, on January 24, 1958, in Book 56427, Page 158, of
Official Records, in the office of said Registrar- Recorder.
Excepting therefrom that portion thereof which lies within the northerly 10 feet of
said Parcel 98.
Also excepting therefrom all that real property legally described above as
Parcel "A" .
SAID ABOVE REAL PROPERTY DESCRIBED AS PARCEL "B" SHALL BE
SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
1. The express condition that the CITY accepts said real property in its
"as is" condition, and that *any- modification and use of the property by the CITY will be for
open space and passive recreation purposes, and that if and when said CITY fails, refuses
or neglects to maintain and use said property for said purposes, or substitutes, exchanges,
or conveys said property, title to said property shall immediately revert to the COUNTY OF

LOS ANGELES without further notice and without the necessity of any affirmative action
on the part of said COUNTY to assert any rights in said real property. The parties may,
by mutual agreement, permit the City to convey easements to others consistent with the
purposes of this grant.
2. The express condition that at all times and under all circumstances,
said real property shall be equally open to residents of incorporated and unincorporated
territory of Los Angeles County, and that there _shall be no discrimination against or
preference, gratuity, bonus or other benefit given to residents of incorporated areas not
equally accorded to _residents of unincorporated territory of Los Angeles County.
3. The parties may, by mutual agreement, modify the legal descriptions
of Parcel "K and /or Parcel "B" in furtherance of the purposes for which this conveyance
was made.
