CC RES 1997-030RESOLUTION NO. 97-30 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES FORMALLY APPROVING THE CITY'S EMERGENCY RESPONSE MULTI - HAZARD FUNCTIONAL PLAN WHEREAS, Southern California continues to experience devastating natural disasters such as earthquakes, flooding, and fires that cause the loss of life and property; WHEREAS, this loss of life and property can be greatly reduced if appropriate earthquake preparedness measures are taken by local governmental agencies; WHEREAS, the state of California and the federal government require that local agencies have emergency response Multi- Hazard Functional Plans which identify hazards specific to each jurisdiction; address specific response plans to each type of hazard; and identify operational data such as listings of resources, personnel, shelters, contacts and other data necessary to conduct a local emergency operation; WHEREAS, local governmental agencies are required to have a Multi- Hazard Functional Plan in order to receive federal and state emergency relief funds; WHEREAS, the Multi- Hazard Functional Plan is an active and dynamic document which should be used as a training document and be periodically reviewed and updated, if necessary; WHEREAS, the City has completed its Multi- Hazard Functional Plan and is ready to submit the plan to the State Office of Emergency Services for review and approval; BE IT, THEREFORE, RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES: 1. Formally approves the City's Multi- Hazard Functional Plan and authorizes the plan to be submitted to the State Office of Emergency Services for review and approval. 2. Recognizes that periodic amendments will be made to the document and that such amendments will not necessitate amending this resolution.
