ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
'BUDGET WORKSHOP
MAY 14, 1998
The meeting was called to order at 11.00 A.M. in the Community Room at City Hall,
30940 Hawthorne Boulevard, by Chair Barbara Ferraro, notice having been given with
affidavit thereto on file. Roll call was answered as follows:
Present: McTaggart, Byrd, Hollingsworth, Lyon and Mayor Ferraro
Also present were Acting Director of Planning, Building & Code Enforcement Director
Joel Rojas, Executive Director Paul D. Bussey, Assistant Executive Director Carolynn
Petru, Agency Secretary Jo Purcell, Public Works Director Les Evans, Senior Engineer
Dean Allison, Public Works Superintendent Vic Hillstead, and Recreation & Parks
Director Ron Rosenfeld.
RDA Draft Agenda for Fiscal Year 1998 -99
Executive Director Bussey presented the draft budget with comments and inquiries
from Council as noted:
Housing Set -Aside Funds
A brief discussion took place relative to the use of RDA Housing Set -Aside funds for
senior citizen low income housing. It was the consensus that staff should get more
information regarding their use and whether the institutional zone was proper for senior
housing.
Abalone Cove Peer Review Consultants:
The Board discussion centered on the adequacy of this budget and the need to
establish how the geology reviews are conducted so the public is aware that this an
independent group of consultants who review both what developers propose as well as
review City projects.
Abalone Cove - Capital Projects:
Mr. Bussey reported that the FY 98 -99 budget proposed a very aggressive program.
Abalone Cove Sanitary Sewer System, Altamira Canyon Drainage Improvements and
Abalone Cove Drainage Improvements.
Adjournment: At 11:20 A.M. the meeting adjourned to May 19, 1998 for an adjourned
regular meeting to follow the City Council meeting. Motion made by Member Lyon.
