RANCHO PALOS VERDES REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
REGULAR MEETING
NOVEMBER 8, 2000
The meeting was called to order at 7:24 P.M. by Chair Byrd at Fred Hesse Community Park,
29301 Hawthorne Boulevard.
PRESENT: Ferraro, Lyon, Stern, and Chair Byrd
ABSENT: McTaggart
Also present were Executive Director Les Evans; Assistant Executive Director Carolynn Petru;
Agency Attorney Carol Lynch; Planning, Building & Code Enforcement Director Joel Rojas;
Director of Public Works Dean Allison; Finance Director Dennis McLean; and Assistant Agency
Secretary/Recording Secretary Jackie Drasco.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Member Ferraro moved, seconded by Member Lyon, to approve the agenda as presented.
Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF CONSENT CALENDAR:
Lois Larue, 3136 Barkentine Road, spoke in opposition to the City's awarding contracts to
Zeiser Kling and to the use of the phrase "acts of God" in contracts.
Member Lyon moved, seconded by Member Ferraro, to approve the Consent Calendar as
follows:

Approved the minutes of October 3, 2000.
Geotechnical Engineering Services (1204 x 1900)
(1) Awarded a professional service contract to Zeiser Kling, Inc. for Geotechnical Engineering
Services on an on-call basis. (2) Authorized the expenditure of up to $20,000 for geotechnical
inspection services for the Abalone Cove Sewer Project.
September 2000 Treasurer's Report (602 x 2200)
Received and filed.
Resolution No RDA 2000-15 - Register of Demands (602 x 2200)
ADOPTED RESOLUTION NO. RDA 2000-15, A RESOLUTION OF THE RANCHO PALOS
VERDES REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ALLOWING CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS AND
SPECIFYING FUNDS FROM WHICH THE SAME ARE TO BE PAID.
The motion to approve the Consent Calendar carried on the following roll call vote:

Sewer Connection Fees (1204 x 1900 x 1402)
Director Allison presented the staff report of November 8, 2000 and the recommendation to: (1)
Authorize the expenditure of up to $166,662 for sewer connection fees with the Los Angeles
County Sanitation District for the existing single family homes in the Portuguese Bend
Community Association that will be served by the sewer project under construction.
Director Allison noted that the cost per home was much less than anticipated because the
homes were older, constructed in the 1950's. It was expected that the cost would be $1,410
per home and the actual, reduced cost is $74 per home.
Member Ferraro moved, seconded by Member Lyon to (1) Authorize the expenditure of up to
• $12,755 for sewer connection fees with the Los Angeles County Sanitation District for the
existing single family homes in the Portuguese Bend Community Association that will be served
by the sewer project under construction
