CC MINS 20100112 ADJ MINUTES RANCHO PALOS VERDES CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING/ MEETING WITH STATE LEGISLATORS TUESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2010 The meeting was called to order at 1:00 P.M. in the office of State Assembly Member Fiona Ma at the State Capitol (Room 3091), Sacramento, California, notice having been given with affidavit thereto on file. City Council roll call was answered as follows: PRESENT: Campbell, Long, and Mayor Wolowicz ABSENT: Misetich (excused) and Stern (excused) Also present was Nick Hardeman, Capitol Director for Assembly Member Ma. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Mayor Wolowicz moved, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Long, to approve the Agenda. Without objection, Mayor Wolowicz so ordered. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None. REGULAR BUSINESS: Mayor Wolowicz provided an overview for State Assembly Member Ma on topics of interest to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and discussion focused on: • State Budget & Projected Shortfall (Highway User Tax Assessment, etc.) • Support of Rancho Palos Verdes Applications for Federal Stimulus Projects • Support for the Palos Verdes Drive East/Palos Verdes Drive South Roadway Stabilization Project • California Public Records Act Amendment/Reform • League Goals for 2010 • Pollution Issues — South Bay Ports • State Legislation activities that could affect local control No action was taken. RECESS & RECONVENE: City Council Minutes Adjourned Regular Meeting January 12, 2010 Page 1 of 3 Mayor Wolowicz called a recess at 1:20 P.M. The meeting was reconvened at 1:30 P.M. for a meeting with State Senator Jenny Oropeza's Chief of Staff Sharon Weissman (District 28) at the State Capitol (Room 5114). PRESENT: Campbell, Long, and Mayor Wolowicz ABSENT: Misetich and Stern Also present was Sharon Weissman, Chief of Staff to Senator Oropeza. With input from the other Council Members present, Mayor Wolowicz briefed Chief of Staff Weissman on the following topics of discussion: • State Budget & Projected Shortfall (Highway User Tax Assessment, etc.) • Support of Rancho Palos Verdes Applications for Federal Stimulus Projects • Support for the Palos Verdes Drive East/Palos Verdes Drive South Roadway Stabilization Project • California Public Records Act Amendment/Reform • League Goals for 2010 • Pollution Issues — South Bay Ports • State Legislation activities that could affect local control No action was taken.
