CC MINS 20100111 ADJ MINUTES RANCHO PALOS VERDES CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING/ MEETING WITH STATE LEGISLATORS MONDAY, JANUARY 11, 2010 The meeting was called to order at 11:00 A.M. in the office of the League of California Cities Executive Director Chris McKenzie at the League of California Cities Offices located at 1400 "K" Street, Sacramento, California, notice having been given with affidavit thereto on file. City Council roll call was answered as follows: PRESENT: Campbell, Long, Misetich, Stern, and Mayor Wolowicz ABSENT: None Also present were Carolyn Lehr, City Manager and Carolynn Petru, Deputy City Manager. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Mayor Wolowicz moved, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Long, to approve the Agenda. Without objection, Mayor Wolowicz so ordered. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None. REGULAR BUSINESS: With input from the other Council Members, Mayor Wolowicz provided an overview for League of California Cities Executive Director Chris McKenzie on topics of interest to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and discussion focused on: • Californians to Protect Local Taxpayers and Vital Services and the 100/100 Pledge • League Goals for 2010 • State Legislation activities that could affect local control No action was taken. The meeting was reconvened at 1:34 P.M. for a meeting with State Senator Roderick Wright (District 25) at the State Capitol (Room 5064). PRESENT: Campbell, Long, Misetich, Stern, and Mayor Wolowicz ABSENT: None Also present were Carolyn Lehr, City Manager and Carolynn Petru, Deputy City Manager. With input from the other Council Members, Mayor Wolowicz briefed Senator Wright on the following topics of discussion: • State Budget & Projected Shortfall (Highway User Tax Assessment, etc.) • Support of Rancho Palos Verdes Applications for Federal Stimulus Projects • Support for the Palos Verdes Drive East/Palos Verdes Drive South Roadway Stabilization Project • California Public Records Act Amendment/Reform No action was taken. The meeting was reconvened at 2:24 P.M. for a meeting with State Assembly Member Ted Lieu (District 53) at the State Capitol (Room 3173). PRESENT: Campbell, Long, Misetich, Stern, and Mayor Wolowicz ABSENT: None Also present were Carolyn Lehr, City Manager, Carolynn Petru, Deputy City Manager and Sheri Pemberton, Chief of Staff to Senator Wright. PRESENT: Campbell, Long, Misetich, Stern, and Mayor Wolowicz ABSENT: None Also present were Carolyn Lehr, City Manager, Carolynn Petru, Deputy City Manager and Victoria Stewart, Senior Assistant to Assembly Member Hagman. With input from the other Council Members, Mayor Wolowicz briefed State Assembly Member Hagman on the following topics of discussion: • State Budget & Projected Shortfall (Highway User Tax Assessment, etc.) • Support of Rancho Palos Verdes Applications for Federal Stimulus Projects • Support for the Palos Verdes Drive East/Palos Verdes Drive South Roadway Stabilization Project • California Public Records Act Amendment/Reform • League Goals for 2010 • Pollution Issues — South Bay Ports • State Legislation activities that could affect local control No action was taken.
