SPECIAL MEETING
MEETING WITH STATE LEGISLATORS
MONDAY, JANUARY 10, 2011
Mayor Pro Tern Misetich called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon for a meeting with
State Senator Roderick Wright (District 25) at the State Capitol (Room 5064), notice
having been given with affidavit on file.
PRESENT: Campbell, Stern, Wolowicz, and Mayor Pro Tern Misetich
ABSENT: Long (excused)
Also present were Carolyn Lehr, City Manager and Katherine Agard, staff to Senator
Wright.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Mayor Pro Tern Misetich moved, seconded by Councilman Campbell, to approve the
Agenda.
Without objection, Mayor Pro Tern Misetich so ordered.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
None.
REGULAR BUSINESS:
With input from the other Council Members, Mayor Pro Tern Misetich briefed Senator
Wright on the following topics of discussion:
• State Budget & Potential Threats to Local Revenues
• Support for the San Ramon Canyon Roadway Stabilization Project
• Proposition 26 Implications Fees/Taxes
• Statewide Pension Reform
• Protect Local Collection of Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT)
• Opposition to Proposed Long Beach Airport (LGB) Airspace Change
No action was taken.

Mayor Pro Tem Misetich called a recess at 1:20 P.M.
The meeting was reconvened at 2:07 P.M. for a meeting with State Assembly Member
Bonnie Lowenthal (District 54) at the State Capitol (Room 3152).
PRESENT: Campbell, Stern, Wolowicz, and Mayor Pro Tern Misetich
ABSENT: Long (excused)
Also present were Carolyn Lehr, City Manager, and Allison Ruff, Legislative Director for
Assembly Member Lowenthal.
With input from the other Council Members, Mayor Pro Tern Misetich briefed Assembly
Member Lowenthal on the following topics of discussion:
• State Budget & Potential Threats to Local Revenues
• Support for the San Ramon Canyon Roadway Stabilization Project
• Proposition 26 Implications Fees/Taxes

Executive Director Chris McKenzie at the League of California Cities Offices located at
1400 "K" Street, Sacramento, California.
PRESENT: Campbell, Stern, Wolowicz, and Mayor Pro Tern Misetich
ABSENT: Long (excused)
Also present were Carolyn Lehr, City Manager and Dwight Stenbakken, Deputy
Executive Director, representing Chris McKenzie, who was absent.
With input from the other Council Members, Mayor Pro Tern Misetich provided an
overview for League of California Cities Deputy Executive Director Dwight Stenbakken
on topics of interest to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and discussion focused on:
• League Goals for 2011

• State Budget

No action was taken.
ADJOURNMENT:
At 3:30 P.M., Mayor Pro Tem Misetich adjourned the meeting to Tuesday, January 18,
2011 at 6:00 P.M. at Hesse Park to conduct interviews for Committee and Commission
Chairs.
