RESOLUTION NO. 76-65
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES ESTABLISHING VARIOUS
EMPLOYEE RULES, REGULATIONS AND BENEFITS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The following rules, regulations and benefits are
hereby established for the employees of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes:
A. Annual Vacation Leave: The purpose of annual vacation
leave is to enable each eligible employee annually to return to work men-
tally refreshed. All employees of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes shall
{t. be entitled to annual vacation leave with pay except the following:
(a) Regular, fulltime employees who have served less than
six months in the services of the City. However, vacation credits for the
time served may be granted to each ?such employee who later receives a per-
manent appointment.
(b) Employees who work on a provisional basis, and all employees
who are not regularly employed in a permanent position.
Each eligible employee shall receive fifteen (15) working days
of vacation credit for each year of continuous eligible service.
• For purposes of computing vacation credit, an eligible employee
shall receive 10 hours of credit for each full month of eligible service.
The times at which an employee may take vacation shall be
determined by mutual agreement with the department head with particular regard
for the needs of the City.
An eligible employee, with the consent of the head of his/her
department may defer a maximum of 15 days of vacation credit to the suc-
ceeding year. On this basis, an employee may accrue a maximum of 30 days
(240 hours) of vacation credit.
In the event one or more official City holidays fall within
an employee's approved vacation leave, such holidays shall not be charged as
vacation leave.
Employees who terminate employment and who have accrued vaca-
tion credit shall be paid in full for all vacation leave earned and not
taken prior to the effective date of termination.
B. Jury Duty: Every regular full-time employee of the City
who is called or required to serve as a trial juror shall be entitled td
absent him/herself from his/her duties with the City during the period of
such service or while necessarily present in court as a result of such call.
The employee shall be paid the difference between his/her full ,salary and
any payment received by him/her, except travel pay, for ouch duty.
C. Holidays: The holidays to be observed in tbs City are as

Washington's Birthday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Admission Day
Columbus Day
Veteran's Day .
Thanksgiving Day
Friday after Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
It shall be the policy of the City to have the City offices
open for business on Admission Day and Columbus Day. All regular full-time
employees working on these days shall have the option of taking "floating .
holidays" in place of these two days.
Regular full-time employees of the City shall not be required
to work on a holiday, except as noted above or unless the employee's services
are required in the interests of the public health, safety, or general wel-
fare, in which latter event any such employee shall be entitled to compen-
satory time off (at such time as in the discretion of the department head
his/her services are not needed and required).
When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall
be observed. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceeding Friday shall
be observed. If a holiday falls on an employee's regularly scheduled time
off, compensatory time off should be granted.
D. Insurance Coverage: The City shall provide insurance cover-
age for all regular full-time employees as follows:
(a) Health and Major Medical Insurance, and
(b) Life Insurance in the amount of $10,000
All premiums for said insurance will be paid by the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes.
E. Resolution No. 74-59 of the City Council of the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes is hereby repealed.
