A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO
PALOS VERDES ESTABLISHING CITY CONTRIBUTION RATES FOR
EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PREMIUMS FOR ACTIVE FULL TIME
EMPLOYEES AND ACTIVE CITY COUNCIL PERSONS
WHEREAS, City of Rancho Palos Verdes currently contributes certain
amounts to provide health and other insurance benefits for its active full -time
employees and active City Council persons; and
WHEREAS, each active full -time employee and City Council person has
the option of being enrolled in certain types of coverage including medical
insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, accidental death
and dismembership insurance, and other miscellaneous benefits; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to continue providing certain contributions to
these active, full time employees and City Council persons for these types of
benefits; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the City's contribution for each active full time
employee shall have a maximum amount which may be applied toward the full
cost of the active full time employee's or active Council person's medical, dental,
and vision insurance benefits, and to pay up to 50% of the cost of medical,
dental, and vision insurance benefits for eligible dependents, subject to the
maximum amounts for these insurance coverages as specified in the table
below:

RESOLVED, That any amounts remaining between the necessary
contributions required and the maximum amounts specified above are not to be
paid to the active full time employee or to the active Council person;
RESOLVED, That in- active City Council persons are eligible to participate
in the City's insurance programs only if they have reached the age of 70 years
and have served on the City Council for at least ten consecutive years,
according to any applicable rules and limitations of the benefit plan or benefit
provider;
RESOLVED, That if an active employee can provide proof of medical
coverage, and declines the medical coverage offered by the City, the City will
reimburse the_ employee $75.00 per month;
RESOLVED, That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to
adopt rules and regulations for the implementation of this Resolution;
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of May, 1997.
