ORD 081 ORDINANCE NO. 81
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
ESTABLISHING A CURFEW FOR MINORS AND
AMENDING THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
Section 1 : Article IV of the Rancho Palos Verdes
Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding Chapter 3
thereto to read as follows :
"CHAPTER 3 - CURFEW REGULATIONS
4300. General Restrictions Against Loitering By Minors.
It is unlawful for any minor under the age of eighteen years
to loiter, idle, wander or stroll aimlessly in or upon the
public streets , highways, roads, alleys, parking lots, parks,
playgrounds, shopping centers, or other public grounds,
public places and public buildings, vacant lots or any unsu-
pervised place between the hours of ten p.m. and daylight
immediately following, unless accompanied by his or her
parent or legal guardian having legal custody and control of
such person, or by the spouse over eighteen:: (18) years of
age of such person.
4301. Loitering in Public Places When They Are Closed.
Between the hours of nightfall and daylight immediately
following, it is unlawful for any minor under the age of
eighteen years to loiter, idle, wander, or stroll aimlessly
in public places such as shopping centers, public buildings,
public grounds, parking lots, parks and playgrounds which
are at the time, not open for business or recreation.
4302 . Duty of Parents and Guardians. It is unlawful
for any parent, guardian, or other person having the legal
care, custody, or control of any minor under the age of
eighteen years to knowingly aid, abet, or encourage such
minor to violate any provision of this chapter.
4303 . Violations of Curfew Regulations, Penalty.
Any person violating any of the provisions or failing to
comply with any of the requirements of this chapter shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor. Any person convicted of a
misdemeanor under the provisions of this chapter shall be
punishable by a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars,
or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period not
exceeding six months , or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 2 : Upon the effective date of this ordinance,
Ordinance Number 8lU will be automatically repealed.
