ORD 065U ORDINANCE NO. 65U
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
DESIGNATING THE OFFICIAL ADDRESS OF THE CITY OFFICES
AND THE PLACE OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AMENDING
THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL CODE AND DECLARING
THE URGENCY THEREOF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
Section 1. Section 2400 of Chapter 4 of Article II of
the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to read:
2400. Council Chambers. The Council Chambers of the
City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes shall be
located at the Palos Verdes Unified School District building,
30942 Hawthorne Boulevard.
Section 2 . Chapter 4 of Article II of the Rancho Palos
Verdes Municipal Code is amended by adding Section 2401 to read:
2401. City Offices. The offices of all agencies,
departments, officers and employees of the City shall be
located at 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard. The location of the
City offices may be changed by resolution of the City
Council or by amendment of this section.
Section 3. The City has relocated its offices from the
Golden Cove Shopping Center in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes to
30940 Hawthorne Boulevard. In a building adjacent to the new City
offices is a large meeting room suitable for City Council meetings.
On March 4, 1975, the City was unable to use the Ridgecrest Inter-
mediate School for a regular Council meeting and on April 1, 1975
will again be denied use of the facility. The school district is
unable to guarantee the regular availability of Ridgecrest Inter-
mediate School. The Palos Verdes Unified School District has a
meeting room located at 30942 Hawthorne Boulevard, adjacent to the
new City offices, which is available for City Council meetings.
Services necessary for the public peace, health, safety and general
welfare are performed in the City offices. City Council meetings
involve the enactment of ordinances and resolutions concerning the
public peace, health, safety and general welfare and must be held
in a regular location in order to permit and facilitate public
attendance at such meetings. Ordinance No. 65 providing for the
changes of address will not be effective until May 1, 1975. This
ordinance is, therefore, necessary for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, health, safety and general welfare, shall be ef-
fective immediately upon adoption, shall be operative on March 18, 1975,
and shall expire May 1, 1975.
