AMG and Associates Inc (Change Order 39)City of Rancho Palos Verdes Department of Public Works 30940 Hawthorne Blvd, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 (310)544-5252 www.publicworks@rpvca.gov CHANGE ORDER MEMORANDUM TO: RAMZI AWWAD, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS FROM: ERIN JONES, GRIFFIN STRUCTURES DATE: JULY 25, 2023 SUBJECT: LADERA LINDA COMMUNITY PARK CONSTRUCTION CHANGE ORDER NUMBER: 39 Description of Construction Change Order Per ASI 23, this change order is for the cost to replace CAT6 cabling to site Wireless Access Points (WAPs) with fiber as is required due to overall distances from the building MDF room to the site WAPs. This change order also includes 1 added bollard housing for the WAP located on the lower tier, and NEMA enclosures for the WAPs located on the upper tier. The WAP bollard housing and NEMA enclosures were excluded originally as Owner Furnished and accordingly labeled on the drawings as “not used”. Also included in this change order are credits associated with reduced conduit (2 WAPs deleted from scope) and reduced trenching (fewer WAPS, as well as conduit for WAPs now running in same trench as security camera conduit rather than in separate trenches, as WAPs were re- located in ASI 23 onto security poles.) Justification The construction Technology drawings called for CAT6 cabling to the site WAP locations on the low tier and upper tier, but this was changed to fiber by the design team to accommodate the distance. The technology design consultant, Vantage Consulting, stated that based on the distances to the WAPs, CAT6 would not be effective and should not have been specified. Fiber extenders were also added, as the original design called for category cabling (CAT6) to feed out to the units but the distance turned into an issue. The construction Technology drawings intended for the WAP on the low tier to be mounted to a pole per the Security drawings, but the Security drawings did not show any note or detail for a pole. The ASI provides specs and details for a bollard housing for this WAP. During development of the ASI, Vantage reviewed the WAP coverage and concluded that 3 WAPs would cover the areas of active play and benches in the upper tier and therefore 2 WAPs were deleted from the upper tier. Please see below and attached for more details. Hopefully this provides the City with what it needs. Vantage has reviewed the CO associated with ASI 23 in response to issued clarifications from RFIs 133 and 148 and after review comments by both Vantage and Griffin and the contractor’s revised CO #042, Vantage feels confident that the pricing submitted is acceptable and is covering the additions and deductions for the revised scope. Can you please respond to me by tomorrow stating that you have reviewed the costs and they are reasonable/in line with typical current costs for such equipment and materials? With a riser rating, there is no need for a transition splice when enter- ing the building. Available in a compact design, these cables are protected against water penetration by inno- vative waterblocking tapes and yarns that swell to absorb water. Waterblocking without the use of messy gels pro- vides more efficient and craft -friendly cable preparation, allows easier cable access and simplifies the use of buf- fer tube fan -out kits. The buffer tubes and fibers in each tube are color -coded for quick, easy identification. The SZ -stranded, loose tube design isolates fibers from installation and environmental rigors and allows for easy midspan access. The cable design is also National Electrical Code® (NEC®) listed (OFNR and FT -4). The all -dielectric cable construction requires no grounding or bonding and the UV -resistant, flame -retardant jacket is rugged, durable and easy to strip. This cable is available in 12 different jacket colors - blue, orange, green, brown, slate, white, red, black, yellow, purple, rose and aqua. The colored jacket allows for easy visual identification of the cables while still providing all of the required environmental protection of an indoor/ outdoor cable jacket. Black is the standard jacket color using the standard part numbers shown here. Contact Customer Care at 1 -800 -743 -2675 to order other color options. This is accomplished through the use of automatic electronic current limiting within each rack-mountable module, rather than providing the current limiting within the power supply unit which supports the power requirements for equipment located within the rack. In nearly all competing designs,a major fault within a module, located within the chassis rack, results in the power supply unit going into a current limiting condition, and as a result, all of the modules within the rack shut down. The rack design employed by ComNet eliminates this possibility, as only the faulty module shuts down, and the operation of the other modules within the rack continue unimpaired. This automatic current limiting feature is also self-resetting, should the fault or overload be of a temporary or intermittent condition. Furthermore, all modules located within the chassis rack are hot-swappable, so that it is not necessary to power-down the rack when removing or replacing modules. Consequences of changing your mind If you elect to receive required notices and disclosures only in paper format, it will slow the speed at which we can complete certain steps in transactions with you and delivering services to you because we will need first to send the required notices or disclosures to you in paper format, and then wait until we receive back from you your acknowledgment of your receipt of such paper notices or disclosures. Thus, you can receive all the disclosures and notices electronically or in paper format through the paper mail delivery system.
