Justification The project roof design is comprised of a flat structure with tapered roof insulation on top to create a drainage pattern and direct water to the roof drains. The original design would have required custom cutting the underside of the tapered insulation to achieve specified slopes. The installer and manufacturer said such trimming is not possible, so the Architect revised the drainage pattern on the roof to utilize stock tapered insulation materials. This required relocation of the roof drains, resulting in additional plumbing piping material and labor. Cost Analysis Griffin Structures and Johnson Favaro reviewed the scope and pricing of the proposal. The quantity of extra materials is correct and documented by supplier’s quote. The labor hours are reasonable for the work required and the labor rates are in line with State of California published rates. Schedule Analysis No time extension was requested by the contractor, and work is expected to be completed within the original construction timeframe.
