BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
Each year City Hall closes for the winter holiday break between December 24th and
January 1St. In 2018, the first Tuesday of the month is January 2nd, the day after City
Hall re -opens following the break. Past practice has been to cancel the first meeting in
January due to the closure of City Hall and to allow for sufficient time for Staff reports
and the agenda to be prepared, as well as any scheduled holiday travel plans that the
City Council, residents and/or Staff may have. There are currently no items scheduled
for the first meeting in January. Therefore, Staff proposes canceling this meeting.
ALTERNATIVES:
In addition to the Staff recommendation, the following alternative action is available for
the City Council's consideration:
Do not cancel the January 2, 2018, City Council meeting.
