CC SR 20171108 H - NOC for Annual Sidewalk Repair FY 16-17RANCHO PALOS VERDES CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT AGENDA DESCRIPTION: MEETING DATE: 11/08/2017 AGENDA HEADING: Consent Calendar Consideration and possible action to authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the Annual Sidewalk Repair Program FY16-17 RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: (1) Accept the work as complete; (2) Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the Los Angeles County Registrar -Recorder's Office and, if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notice the surety company to exonerate the Performance Bond; and, (3) Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the 5% retention payment in the amount of $9,999.95 to EBS General Engineering, 35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion, contingent upon no claims being filed on the project and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond. FISCAL IMPACT: The final project cost was $222,198.95. List of FY16-17 sidewalk repair locations (page B-1) BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: Construction of the Annual Sidewalk Repair Program FY16-17 was authorized by the City Council on May 16, 2017, in the amount of $231,178. The scope of work included repairing damaged sidewalk, driveways, and curbs and gutters in areas 1 and 9 (Attachment B). The following table summarizes the project cost: 1 Annual Sidewalk Repair Program FY16-17 Council Authorization (including contingency) $ 231,178.00 Construction Costs $ 209,998.95 Construction Management and Inspection $ 12,200.00 Final Project Cost $ 222,198.95 Total Project Savings $ 8,979.05 The project was successfully completed on October 5, 2017, by EBS General Engineering in accordance with the specifications and within budget for a total construction cost of $209,998.95. Therefore, Staff recommends accepting the project as complete and filing a Notice of Completion with the Los Angeles County Registrar - Recorder's Office. If no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, the City will release the 5% retention payment in the amount of $9,999.95, and, upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notice the surety company to exonerate the Performance Bond.
