SUBJECT: JOINT EXERCISE OF POWERS AGREEMENT: CITY AND
RPV REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the resolution approving a joint
exercise of powers agreement between the City of Rancho Palos
Verdes and the Rancho Palos Verdes Redevelopment Agency.
BACKGROUND: On June 19, 1990, the City Council considered
the adoption of a Joint Powers Agreement between the City and
the RDA. The cover memo from the City Attorney is attached
for your review. At that meeting concern was expressed that
provision had not been made for the perpetual maintenance of
facilities to be built under the JPA.
In response to that concern, language has been added to
Section 8 (pg 10) requiring 10% of the monies received to be
used for maintenance and in Section 23 (pg 11) language has
been added to assure that the maintenance funds would
continue to be available beyond the life of the JPA.
