A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES GRANTING
VARIANCE NO. 67 FOR PILASTERS SUPPORTING
TWO WROUGHT IRON GATES AND THE GATES THAT
EXCEED 42" INCHES IN HEIGHT
WHEREAS, Mr. Cigliano has requested a variance to allow the existing
pilasters around the driveways and the wrought iron gates to remain at
their present height which exceeds 42" inches•=_a`t-6345 Via Colinita; and
WHEREAS, after notice pursuant to the City's Development Code, a
public hearing was held on June 9, 1981, at which time all interested
parties were given an opportunity to be heard and present evidence.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That there are exceptional or extraordinary circumstances
applicable to the property involved, or to the intended use of the property
which do not apply generally to other property in the same zoning district
due to the horseshoe shape,of the lot, and the variation in grade.
Section 2: That such a variance is necessary for the preservation
and enjoyment of a substantial property right of the applicant, which right
is possessed by other property"owners under like conditions in the same
zoning district since the gates are necessary to provide safety.
Section 3: That the granting of the variance will not be materially
detrimental to the public welfare or injurious to the property -and improve-
ments in the area in which the property is located since the pilasters and
gates will neither obstruct view nor hinder traffic safety.
Section 4: That the intended use is'not contrary to the General Plan.
Section 5: For the foregoing reasons, the Planning Commission of the
City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby grants approval'of Variance No.67, subject
to condition A.

VARIANCE NO. 67 IS HEREBY APPROVED SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITION:
A. The lighting atop the pilasters must comply with the City's De-
velopment Code.
