The Executive Officer having reported that the returns have been
received from the election held on August 28 , 1973, the purpose of
• determining whether certain unincorporated territory in the County of "
Los Angeles, State of California, should be incorporated as a general
law city under the name and style of "City of Rancho Palos Verdes, " on
motion of Supervisor Debs, seconded by Supervisor Schaharum, unanimously
carried, it was ordered that the following results of said election he _
declared official :

And on motion of SuP ervisbr, Debs, seconded by Supervisor Schabarum,
unanimously carried, the following order was adopted:
WHEREAS, on May 24 , , l973, the Board adopted an order closing the
hearing; setting boundaries as approved by the Local Agency Formation
. ; s ' on February 1973; determining that in excess of 19 ,138

registered voters reside within the area of said proposed incorporation;
and accepting the proposal that the name of "City of .Rancho Palos Verde E
be submitted to the electors as the name for the proposed city; and
WHEREAS , on May 24 , 1973, an election was called for August 28 , 1973,
to he held in the area proposed for incorporation, for the purpose of
determining whether said territory should become incorporated as a
general law city known as the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and for

the purpose of electing the members of the City Council . Required legal
notice was g) 711, which accurately described the boundaries of the
proposed inc. -)oration as set by the Board of Supervisors , and describtc

WHEREAS , pursuant to said order, said. notice and said proceedings,
an election was held within said boundaries on the 28th day of August .
1973, and th returns of the votes cast at said election were declared
to be official by the Board of Supervisors at its meeting of September 4 ,
• 1973; and
WHEREAS, upon said declaration it appeared that a majority of the
votes cast at said election were for the incorporation of a city to he
known as the City of Rancho Palos Verdes :
NOW, THEREFORE, IT WAS ORDERED that the Board by its order, declared
that all that territory situated in the County of Los Angeles, State
. of California, and embraced within the boundaries hereinbefore described.,
is duly incorporated as - a general law city under the name and styli of
the "City 7r Rancho Palos Verdes; " and
W3- REAS , it also appeared upon the declaration of said votes that
Marilyn Ryan, Ken Dyda, Gunther W. Buerk, Francis D. Ruth and Robert E.
Ryan, received, ,in the order named, the highest number of votes cast for
members of the City Council :
NOW, 'HERE OPE, IT WAS FURTHER ORDERED that the Board by its order,
declared the aforesaid Marilyn Ryan , Ken Dyda, Gunther W. Buerk,
Francis D.- Ruth and Robert E, Ryan duly elected to the offices of the
City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes; and
It As FURTHER ORDERED that the Executive Officer of the Board he
instructed to file the proper documents with the Secretary of State
of- the State of California and with the County Recorder of the County
• of Los Angeles.
