ORD 299 ORDINANCE NO. 299
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
AMENDING CHAPTER 2 . 04, SECTION 2. 04.020 OF THE
RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING
TO REGULAR MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes
presently schedules its meetings for the first, third and, when
appropriate, the fifth Tuesday of each month; and
WHEREAS, over the past three years, the record indicates that
the City Council has chosen to meet on this fifth Tuesday only five
times; and
WHEREAS, even if no regular meeting is held on the fifth
Tuesday, the law mandates that certain records be generated to
report that no fifth Tuesday meeting was held; and,
WHEREAS, if the City Council desires to have additional
meetings, they can adjourn the first or third Tuesday to whatever
date they so desire; and
WHEREAS, it is now felt that in an effort to reduce
unnecessary record keeping that the fifth Tuesday be eliminated as
a regular meeting date.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos
Verdes does hereby ordain as follows:
Section 1. Title 2, Chapter 2. 04, Section 2 . 04. 020
(Regular Meetings) is amended to read: "Regular meetings of the
City Council shall be held on the first and third Tuesdays of each
month at the hour of six p.m. in the council chambers except as
follows:
A. When a statewide or municipal election is conducted in
the City on the first or third Tuesday of any month, the city
council meeting shall be held on the next succeeding day which is
not a holiday.
I/ B. When an official city holiday falls on the first or third
Tuesday of any month, the meeting shall be held on the next
succeeding day which is not a holiday.
