AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES ADOPTING BY REFERENCE PURSUANT TO SEC-
T I ON 50022. 9 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE, LOS AN-
GELES COUNTY CODE, TITLE 20, UTILITIES, DIVI-
SION 2, SANITARY SEWERS AND INDUSTRIAL WASTE,
AND AMENDING THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL
CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Chapter 13 .04 of Title 13 of the Rancho Palos
Verdes Municipal Code is amended to read:
CHAPTER 13.04 SEWER SYSTEM
13.04.010 ADOPTION OF SANITARY SEWER AND INDUSTRIAL
WASTE ORDINANCE. Title 20, Utilities, Division 2, Sanitary
Sewers and Industrial Waste of the Los Angeles County Code as
amended and in effect on July 27, 1989, except as hereinafter
amended, is hereby adopted by reference as the Sanitary Sewer and
Industrial Waste Ordinance of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.
Three (3) copies of said Title 20, Division 2 of the
Los Angeles County' Code, as amended, have been deposited with the
City Clerk of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and shall be at all
times maintained by said City Clerk for use and examination by
the public.
13.04. 020 DEFINITIONS. Whenever any of the following
names or terms are used in the said Title 20, Division 2, each
such name or term shall be deemed and construed to have the mean-
ing ascribed to it in this section as follows :
A. "Board" shall mean the City Council .
B. "County Engineer" shall mean the City Engineer.
C. "County Health Officer" shall mean the City Health
Officer.
D. "County of Los Angeles" shall mean the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes except in such instances where the County of
Los Angeles is a correct notation due to circumstances.
E. "County Sewer Maintenance District" shall mean the
County Sewer Maintenance District except in the instance where
the territory concerned either is not within or has been

withdrawn from a County Sewer Maintenance District. In any such
instance "County Sewer Maintenance District" shall mean the City
of Rancho Palos Verdes.
F. "Ordinance " means an ordinance of the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes except in such instances where the reference
is to a stated ordinance of the County of Los Angeles.
G. "Public Sewer" means all sanitary sewers and ap-
purtenances thereto, lying within streets or easements dedicated
to the City, which are under the sole jurisdiction of the City.
H. "Trunk Sewer" means a sewer under the jurisdiction
of a public entity other than the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.
13.04. 030 AMENDMENT. Notwithstanding the provisions
of Section 13.04. 010, Section 20. 28 . 050 of said Title 20, Divi-
sion 2 of the Los Angeles County Code is amended to read as fol-
lows:
20. 28. 050 FEES - REIMBURSEMENT AUTHORIZED WHEN - PROCE-
DURES FOR AWARDING CONTRACTS. The City Engineer may recommend
that the the Council approve an agreement to reimburse or agree
to reimburse a subdivider, school district, and improvement dis-
trict formed under special assessment procedures, or person for
the cost of constructing sanitary sewers for public use when such
sewers can or will be used by areas outside of the proposed
development; and to establish a reimbursement district and col-
lection rates as described in the agreement under the provisions
of this ordinance.
13.04. 040 AMENDMENT. Notwithstanding the provisions
of Section 13.04. 010, Section 20.32. 150 of said Title 20, Divi-
sion 2 of the Los Angeles County Code is amended to read as fol-
lows :
20. 32. 150 AREA AND CONNECTION CHARGES IN REIMBURSEMENT
DISTRICTS. In the event the City Engineer determines that the
property described in the application for a permit is included
within a sewer reimbursement district, which has been formed by
the Council in accordance with Section 20. 28 . 050, the charge for
connecting to the public sewer shall be as set forth in the
agreement.
13.04.050 REPEAL. Section 20.32. 290 of said Title 20,
Division 2 of the Los Angeles County code is hereby repealed.
13. 040.060 AMENDMENT. Notwithstanding the provisions
of 13. 04. 010, Section 20.32. 280 of said Title 20, Division 2 of
the Los Angeles County code is amended by adding the following
paragraph:

All monies collected under this Section for sewer main-
tenance are to be submitted directly to the County Sewer Main-
tenance District for inclusion in the Maintenance District ' s
funds.
13. 04.070 AMENDMENT. Notwithstanding the provisions
of 13.04.010, Section 20.32. 690 of said Title 20, Division 2 of
the Los Angeles County Code is amended by adding the following
paragraph:
In the event the damaged public sewer is not in a sewer
maintenance district, the valuator shall reimburse the City
within thirty (30) days after the City Engineer shall render an
invoice for the same. The amount when paid shall be deposited in
the City . Treasury.
13.04.080 VIOLATION - PENALTY. Every person violat-
ing any provision of this Chapter or any condition or limitation
of permit issued pursuant thereto is guilty of a misdemeanor , and
upon conviction is punishable by fine not exceeding $1,000. 00 or
by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period not exceeding six
months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
