ORD 240 ORDINANCE NO. 240
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES ESTABLISHING REGULAR MEETING TIMES FOR
CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 192 OF THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the City Council in the course of conducting the
City' s business must from time to time hold closed sessions
to discuss matters of litigation and personnel and open
sessions for discussion of lengthy items when deemed
necessary; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that holding such
sessions at the outset of the Regular City Council Meeting is
more efficient administration of the municipal government;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos
Verdes hereby ordains as follows:
Section 1. Section 2.040.020 of chapter 2.04, Title 2 of
the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to read:
2.040.020 Regular Meetings. Regular meetings of the
City Council shall be held on the first and third and
when applicable, the fifth Tuesdays of each month at
the hour of six-thirty p.m. in the council Chambers
except as follows:
A. When an official election is conducted
in the City on the first, third or fifth
Tuesday of any month, the meeting shall be
held on the next succeeding day which is not
a holiday.
B. When an official City holiday falls on
the first, third or fifth Tuesday of any
month, the meeting shall be held on the next
succeeding day which is not a holiday.
Only closed sessions and study sessions may be
held between 6: 30 p.m. and 7: 30 p.m. unless a regular
meeting is adjourned to or a special meeting called for
said time. No study session or closed session will
be held during said hours unless the agenda is posted
at least 72 hours prior to the meeting as required by
Section 54954.2 of the California Government Code. No
action shall be taken during any study session held
between said hours unless the agenda so provides.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 17Th day of January,
1989.
