ORD 239 ORDINANCE NO. 239
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
CONCERNING CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM FRANCHISES AND
AMENDING THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL CODE
The City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes
does hereby ordain as follows:
Section 1 . Section 7 of Section 13 .12. 020 of
Chapter 13.12, Title 13 of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal
Code is amended to read as follows:
7 . "Cable Usage Corporation" means a nonprofit
corporation, joint powers authority or other entity described
in Section 13.12 . 330.
Section 2. Subsection D of Section 13 .12. 240 of
the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to read as
follows:
D. Said records shall be kept at the grantee' s local
office for a period of two years after receipt of any such
complaint. A copy of the complaint and all related
correspondence will be forwarded to the City. Further, the
cable operator shall submit to the City a quarterly report
summarizing all complaints and the action taken thereon.
Section 3 . Section 13 .12 . 330 of Chapter 13 .12 ,
Title 13 of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended
to read as follows:
13 .12 . 330 Cable Usage Corporation. Grantor may
establish, and grantor shall have the right to
establish as a term of any franchise granted hereunder,
a public benefit nonprofit corporation, joint powers
authority or other entity to receive and allocate
support funds and other consideration for the purpose of
promoting and developing local usage of the cable
television system.
Section 4. Section 13 .12 .420 of Chapter 13 .12
of Title 13 of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is
amended by adding a new subsection E to read as follows:
E. In the event the FCC ceases to control technical
standards, the City may establish reasonable technical
standards with which the Grantee shall comply.
