ORD 206U ORDINANCE NO. 206U
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
EXTENDING ORDINANCE NO. 205U AND DECLARING THE
URGENCY THEREOF
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes
does ordain as follows :
Section 1: Ordinance No. 205U is hereby extended through March 31 ,
1987.
Section 2: The City has recently received increasing numbers of appli-
cations for mini-markets located on small lots near residential neighbor-
hoods. Such applications pose an immediate threat to the health, safety
and welfare of persons residing in neighborhoods adjacent to such proposed
uses. This threat is posed by the crime committed by persons loitering at
such establishments, noise, and traffic congestion. Ordinance No. 205U
placed a moratorium on the commencement or establishment of any such use
and on the issuance of any Conditional Use Permit, Variance, Building Per-
mit or any other authorization to commence such use. If this Ordinance is
not enacted this use could be established in a manner which could cause an
immediate threat to the public health, safety and general welfare. This
Ordinance will extend the moratorium, will prohibit the establishment of
the use, is necessary for the health, safety and general welfare, shall
take effect on May 17, 1986, and shall expire on March 31 , 1987 unless ex-
tended by the City Council pursuant to Section 65858 of the California Gov-
ernment Code.
