AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE LOS
ANGELES COUNTY BUILDING CODE, 1977 EDITION,
THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY PLUMBING CODE, 1977
EDITION, AND THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY MECHAN-
ICAL CODE, 1977 EDITION, PUBLISHED BY
THE BUILDING NEWS, INC. , MAKING AMENDMENTS
TO SAID CODES, AMENDING THE ELECTRICAL CODE,
AND AMENDING THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES
MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DOES ORDAIN.
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 8100 of Chapter i, Article VIII
of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to read:
8100 . Adoption of. Building Code. The Los
Angeles County Building Code, being Ordinance No. 22.25 of
the County of Los Angeles as amended to and in effect. on
November 1, 1977, as contained in the 1977 Edition of the
Los Angeles County Building Code published by Building
News, Inc. , except as hereinafter provided, is hereby
adopted by reference as the Building Code of the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes as amended by Sections 8101, et seq. ,
of this Chapter. Said code may be referred to as the
"Building Code.
The provisions of said Building Code applying
to dwellings, lodgings, houses, hotels, apartment houses,
convents, monasteries or other uses classified by said
Building Code as a Group H or I Occupancy and including
Chapters 1, 2 , 3, 4 , and 98 and 99 shall constitute and
may be cited as the Housing Code.
Three copies of said Los Angeles County
Building Code, 1977 Edition, have been deposited in the
office of the'City Clerk of the City of Rancho Palos
Verds, and shall be at all times maintained by said. Clerk
for use and examination by the public.
Section 2. Section 8103 of Chapter 1, Article
VIII of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended
/ to read:
Section 8103. Fees. Notwithstanding the
provisions o'f Section 8200 , the Building Code is hereby
amended by increasing the amount of each and every fee set
forth in Section 303 and in Tables No. 3-A and 3-B of said
Building Code to be the fee set forth in the most current
' resolution of the City Council, establishing fees pursuant
to said Building Code. In the event no such resolution
has been adopted, said fees shall be fifty percent (50% )
greater than those set forth in Section 303 and in Tables
3-A and 3-B of said Building Code.
Section 3 . Pursuant to Section 17958 .5 of the
Health and Safety Code of the State of California, the City
Council hereby finds that the changes and modifications of the
Uniform Building Code, 1976 Edition, Volume 1 , prepared by the
International Conference of Building Officials, made in the
County of Los Angeles Building Code and made by this ordinance
are needed, being reasonably necessary because of local condition
Section 4 . Section 8202 of Chapter 2, Article
VIII of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to
read:
Section 8202. Fees. Notwithstanding
the provisions of Section 8200 , the Electrical Code is
hereby amended by increasing the amount of each and every
fee set forth in Section 8 of said Electrical Code to be
the fee set forth in the most current resolution of the
City Council, establishing fees pursuant to said
Electrical Code. In the event no such resolution has been
adopted, said fees shall be fifty percent (50%) greater
than those set forth in Section 8 of said Electrical
Code.
Section 5 . Section 8300 of Chapter 3 , Article
VIII of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to
read:
8300 . Adoption of Plumbing Code. The Los
Angeles County Plumbing Code, being Ordinance No. 2269 of
the County of Los Angeles, as amended to and , in effect on
November 1, 1977, as contained in the 1977 Edition of the
Los Angeles County Plumbing Code published by Building News
Inc. , including Appendices A, B, C, F and G of said Los
Angeles County Plumbing Code, except as hereinafter provided,
is hereby adopted by reference as the Plumbing Code of the
City of Rancho Palos Verdes as amended by Sections 8301, et
seq. , of this Chapter. Said Code may be referred to as the
"Plumbing Code. "
Three copies of said Los Angeles County
Plumbing Code have been deposited in the office of the City
Clerk of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and shall be at all
times maintained by said Clerk for use and examination by
the public.
Section 6. Section 8302 of Chapter 3 , Article
VIII of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to
read:
Section 8302. Fees. Notwithstanding
the provisions of Section 8300 , the Plumbing Code is
hereby amended by increasing the amount of each and every
fee set forth in Sections 59 and 60 and in Tables No. I
and II of said Plumbing Code to be the fee set forth
in the most current resolution of the City Council,
establishing fees pursuant to said Plumbing Code. In the

event no such resolution has been adopted, said fees shall
be fifty per cent ( 50% ) greater than those set forth in
Section 59 and 60 and in Tables No. I and No. II of said
Plumbing Code.
Section 7 . Pursuant to Section 17958 .5 of the Health
and Safety Code of the State of California, the City Council hereby
finds that the changes and modifications of the Uniform Plumbing
Code, 1976 Edition, prepared by the International Association of
Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, made in the County of Los Angeles
Plumbing Code and made by this ordinance are needed , being reason-
ably necessary because of local conditions.
Section 8 . Section 8400 of Chapter 4 , Article VIII
of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to read:

of the County of Los Angeles as amended to and in effect
on November 1, 1977 , as contained in the 1977 edition of the
Los Angeles County Building Laws published by the Building
News, Inc. , and including the appendix to said Los Angeles
County Mechanical Code, except as herein provided', is hereby
adopted by reference as the Mechanical Code of the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes, as amended by Sections 8401 , et seq. ,
of this Chapter. Said Code may be referred to as the
'Mechanical Code.
Three copies of said Los Angeles County
Mechanical Code have been deposited in the office of
the City Clerk of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and
shall be at all times maintained by said Clerk for use and
examination by the public.
Section 9 . Section 8402 of Chapter 4 , Article VIII
of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended to read:
Section 8402. Fees. Notwithstanding
the provisions of Section 8400 , the Mechanical Code is
hereby amended by increasing the amount of each and every
fee set forth in Section 304 of said Mechanical Code to be
the fee set forth in the most current resolution of the
City Council, establishing fees pursuant to said Mechanical.
Code. In the event no such resolution has been adopted,
said fees shall be fifty per cent (50% ) greater than those
set forth in Section 304 of said Mechanical Code.
Section 10 Pursuant to. Section 17958 .5 of the
Health and Safety Code of the State of California, the City
Council hereby finds that the changes and modifications of the
Uniform Mechanical Code, 1976 Edition, jointly prepared by the
International Conference of Building Officials and the Inter-
national Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, made
in the County of Los Angeles Mechanical Code and made by this
Ordinance are needed, being reasonably necessary because of
local conditions.
