AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES INCREASING CERTAIN DOG LICENSING
FEES, AMENDING THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES
MUNICIPAL CODE, AND DECLARING THE URGENCY
THEREOF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES HEREBY
ORDAINS AS FOLLOW:
Section 1: Section 3401 of Chapter 4 of Article III
of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code is amended by amend-
ing subsections 411 and 421 thereof to read:
"Sec. 411. Dog Licenses, Fees.
Every person owning or having custody or control of
any dog over the age of four (4) months in the City of Rancho
Palos Verdes not covered by the provisions of Section 410 shall
first obtain an annual license from the Director for each of
such dogs and at the same time obtain a dog license tag, and
for such license or licenses, in addition to the One Dollar
($1. 00) fee for the dog license tag, shall pay Nine Dollars
($9 . 00) , a total of Ten Dollars ($10. 00) in all.
A person owning a dog having met the requirements of
Section 421, infra, shall obtain a dog license tag in the amount
of One Dollar ($1. 00) and in addition thereto obtain an annual
license at Two Dollars, Fifty Cents ($2. 50) , a total of Three
Dollars, Fifty Cents ($3. 50) in all.
"Sec. 421. Spayed or Neutered Dogs: Reduction in
License Tag Fee.
Pursuant to Section 30804 . 5 of the Food and Agricul-
tural Code, any dog license tag issued pursuant to Section 411
of this Chapter shall be issued for one-half or less of the
fee required if a certificate is presented from a licensed
veterinarian that the dog has been spayed or neutered. "
Section 2. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes has
entered into an agreement with the County of Los Angeles for
the performance of animal control services within the boundaries
of the City. Under the terms of said agreement the City is re-
quired to adopt a schedule of dog licensing fees identical to
the dog licensing fee schedule of the County. The said County
fee schedule was amended to increase certain dog licensing fees
effective June 29, 1976 and it is necessary for the City to
amend its said schedule to enable the County to perform animal
control services under said agreement. The City Council finds
and determines that it is therefore necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health, safety and general
welfare that this ordinance become effective and operative
immediately upon adoption.
