ORDINANCE NO. 52 U
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
EXTENDING INTERIM ZONING, ZONING AND CLASSIFYING
PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY ON AN INTERIM BASIS AND
ADOPTING BY REFERENCE, PURSUANT TO SECTION 50022.2
OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE, ORDINANCE NO. 1494 OF THE
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES ENTITLED "THE ZONING ORDI-
NANCE" , AMENDING THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL
CODE AND DECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes was incor-
porated on the 7th day of September, 1973 and on said date
adopted Ordinance No. 1 entitled "An Ordinance of the City of
Rancho Palos Verdes Providing for County Ordinances to Remain
In Effect" and Ordinance No. 3 entitled "An Ordinance of the
City of Rancho Palos Verdes Relating to Zoning and Classifying
of Property Within the City of Rancho Palos Verdes On An Interim
Basis and Declaring the Urgency Thereof, " whereby Los Angeles
County Ordinance No. 1494, as amended to said date, was adopted
as an interim zoning ordinance for a period of four months.
Thereafter, this City Council adopted Ordinances Nos. 16 and 16U
whereby said interim zoning ordinances and zoning were extended
and said Los Angeles County Ordinance No. 1494 , as so amended,
was adopted as an interim zoning ordinance for an additional
period which expires September 2, 1974. An additional exten-
sion is necessary pending completion of zoning studies currently
in progress.
Section 2. Chapter 1 of Article IX of the Rancho Palos
Verdes Municipal Code is amended by amending Section 9100 thereof
to read:
"9100 Adoption of Zoning Ordinance; The Los
Angeles County Zoning Ordinance, being Ordinance No.
1494 of Los Angeles County as amended and in effect
on September 7, 1973, is hereby adopted by reference
as the interim zoning ordinance of the City of Rancho
Palos Verdes for a period expiring September 2, 1975 ,
as amended by Sections 9101 , et seq. of this Chapter.
Three (3) copies of said Ordinance 1494
of the County of Los Angeles, as so amended,
have been deposited in the office of the City
Clerk of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and
shall be at all times maintained by said Clerk
for use and examination by the public. "
Section 3 . All properties within the City of Rancho
Palos Verdes are zoned and classified as RA-1 (1 acre) .
Section 4. Sections 1 and 2 of Ordinances 16 and 16U
are hereby superseded and repealed.
Section 5. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes became
incorporated as a general law city on September 7, 1973 . The
City Council has been and still is engaged in studies as to
the appropriate zoning and use classification for all proper-
ties within the City. Unless this ordinance is effective imme-
diately development may occur which would be in conflict with
the zoning which will be adopted after completion of said
studies and would be inimical to the public interest. Pending
completion of said studies it is therefore necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety

that this ordinance be effective immediately and continue in
effect as an interim zoning ordinance for a period expiring
September 2, 1975. This ordinance is a temporary interim
ordinance and shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
