ORDINANCE NO. 29 U
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES
DECLARING A MORATORIUM ON CERTAIN PERMITS, ON THE
PROCESSING OR APPROVAL OF TENTATIVE MAPS, FINAL
MAPS OR PARCEL MAPS AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 16 U
AND DECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES HEREBY ORDAINS AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 16 U shall be amended to read
as follows: (added portion dashed)
II/ Section 3. Notwithstanding any other Ordinance or Code
of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, no building permits, grading
permit or other permit for new construction shall be issued and no
tentative map, final map or parcel map for the subdivision of land
shall be accepted for filing, processed or approved as to any prop-
erty located in that portion of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes
outlined in red upon that map attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and
incorporated herein by this reference. This moratorium shall
expire eight months from the date of adoption of this Ordinance
unless otherwise specifically extended or terminated by action
of this City Council.
Section 2. Declaration of Urgency. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes was
incorporated as a general law city, on September 7, 1973. The City Council
intends to conduct studies forthwith, and further intends to consult with its
Planning Advisory Committee and Planning Commission when appointed, to con-
duct studies within a reasonable time, as to the appropriate zoning and land
use classification with respect to all properties now within the City limits
of the City, and the adoption of a General Plan. It is necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare that
this Ordinance take effect immediately, and permit land in certain areas to
be subdivided while otherwise prohibiting the subdivision of land. By reason
of the foregoing and consistent with Section 65858 of the Government Code, this
ordinance shall take effect immediately.
