ORD 013 ORDINANCE NO. 13
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES DESIGNATING
TIME, DAY AND PLACE FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS, AND AMENDING
THE RANCHO PALOS VERDES MUNICIPAL CODE, AND DECLARING THE
URGENCY THEREFOR
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes has determined
that there may be a problem utilizing the school sites presently designated as
meeting places on a regular basis on either Wednesday or Thursday nights; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has also determined that holding its meetings
on Tuesday nights will result in more efficient administration of the municipal
government as well as greater citizen participation at the Council meetings;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes hereby
ordains as follows:
Section 1. Sections 2400 and 2403 of Chapter 4 of Article II of Rancho
Palos Verdes Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows:
2400. Council Chambers. The Council Chambers of the City Council of
the City of Rancho Palos Verdes shall be located at Ridgecrest Intermediate
School, 28915 Northbay Drive.
2403. Council Meetings. Regular meetings of the Rancho Palos Verdes City
Council stall be held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at the hour of
7:30 p.m. , or on the next succeeding day which is not a holiday in the Council
. Chambers.
Section 2. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes has just recently been
incorporated, and its government therefore requires both numerous meetings and
a full communication with and participation of the citizens of the City at such
meetings. Unless this Ordinance becomes effective immediately, the City Council
of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes will be unable to hold its regular City
Council meetings in an efficient and orderly manner, and to perform thereat the
necessary matters of government required of it. This Ordinance is therefore
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety,
and shall take effect immediately.
